You can again trade in your old DVDs for discounts towards select Blu-Ray titles at Best Buy Canada and Future Shop stores, until May 23rd, 2013.

You can save $5 on select Blu-ray titles, $10 on select 3D Blu-ray titles and $15 on select Television series Blu-ray titles.

Over 80 titles are available for Trade-In in store at Future Shop, all marked with Trade & Save stickers. The amount of selections available at Best Buy Canada stores has not been published on their site.

Eight Future Shop and seven Best Buy stores are set to close though-out Canada as the company restructures their retail operations.

According to a January 31st, 2013 press release smaller retail operations will replace these stores :

Best Buy stores in Queensborough, Nanaimo, Victoria, Langford (Westshore Town Centre), and South Surrey, British Columbia; and Lachenaie, and Sherbrooke (SmartCentres Sherbrooke), Quebec.

Future Shop stores in West Kelowna, British Columbia; Montreal (Forum Entertainment Center), Laval (First Pro Ste-Dorothee), Quebec; Regent, Manitoba; Macleod, Calgary; as well as Ancaster, Barrie South and Erin Mills, Ontario.

Best Buy Mobile locations will expand whilst smaller Future Shop “web stores”.

On the other side of the pond, HMV U.K is also restructuring and is not currently taking online orders via their site.

Sixteen stores have been closed in Ireland and half of the 223 U.K stores are expected to close shortly.

Future Shop is again accepting trade ins for $5 credits towards select Blu-ray titles and $10 towards select 3D Blu-ray titles.

Following its sister chain’s lead, Future Shop is also offering to take your old DVD off of your hands in exchange for discounts on a few selected Blu-Ray titles.

This offer will expire on August 16th. But unlike the Best Buy Canada offer several 3D Blu-Ray titles have also been made available at a $10 discount.

Billboard reports that Best Buy wants to reduce their CD prices to $9.99 in the states this holiday season but the labels are fighting the $7.25 wholesale price.

Best Buy had reduced the space dedicated to CDs and DVDs in their stores in Canada and the United States.

Canadian students that purchase a HP computer from Future Shop or Best Buy will be eligible for a free X-Box.

The HP computer must cost more than $599 and must be purchased by June 30th, 2011. For additional details consult the official Microsoft press release or the Microsoft special offer site.
