Competition FTW

Prime Day has started and the competition is heating up at Canadian Tire, Best Buy Canada, Microsoft Canada, Newegg Canada and The Source for electronics and home appliances:

  • Canadian Tire is offering $30 worth of Triangle points on pre-tax purchases of $200 today (07/12), with reductions on various appliances, tools and equipment. There isn’t many offers when it comes to home entertainment but thought i’d mention them anyway.
  • On the other hand Best Buy Canada and Newegg Canada are offering big discounts on home entertainment and appliances, so it may be worth your while to shop around.
  • The Source has a good selection so if you can find something cheeper there you should know that they’re offering $20 discounts on $150 purchases. And Microsoft Canadaicon has decided to lower their prices on their ASUS and Levono laptops, as well as their Surfaceicon line of tablets, laptops, etc.
  • And cash back is available from Rakuten on most purchases at all of the above mentioned stores and others, as well as a $30 bonus if you’re a new user.

After installing it, go to the product you want on Amazon (or other participating retailer) and click on the orange logo at the top right of your browser window for options. This app also provides coupons and other bonuses when shopping at participating retailers.
  • 5X Bonus Air Miles will be given to Air Miles members on eligible purchases via airmileshops.ca until July 13th. Afterwards 30 bonus Air Miles will be given on eligible purchases of $30 until August 1st, 2022. Details on the latter can be found on the aforementioned site’s main page.

Early Prime Day Offers

Although Prime Day is scheduled for the 12th and 13th of July this year, there are offers available now from Amazon and Prime Video, the later being film rentals at $2.99 and lower.

Details are available at Amazon.ca and Amazon.com. And yes, Canadians with a prime membership in the states can take advantage of the offers at the latter. But you can only use the free shipping offers there for American addresses, which is fine if you have a lot of friends and relatives in that country. Or if you have a second residence or vacation home there.

I believe Americans can also purchase a prime membership here in Canada to ship some of their Amazon.ca orders within Canada.
