{"id":1179,"date":"2011-05-18T13:00:43","date_gmt":"2011-05-18T17:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=1179"},"modified":"2011-05-18T13:00:43","modified_gmt":"2011-05-18T17:00:43","slug":"copyright-reform-in-new-session","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=1179","title":{"rendered":"Copyright Reform In New Session"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It appears that <strong>Bill C-32<\/strong> will be re-introduced into Parliament virtually intact, according to <strong>Peterborough MP Dean Del Mastro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.torontosun.com\/2011\/05\/17\/new-copyright-bill-to-duplicate-c32-tories\" target=\"_blank\">Toronto Sun interview<\/a> Del Mastro claimed that as a member of the special legislative committee on <strong>Bill C-32<\/strong> he had not heard &#8220;<em>a lot that was overly critical of the bill<\/em>&#8221; from the many witnesses that testified for this committee.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Del Mastro<\/strong> believes that minor changes will be made to the legislation prior to its introduction by the newly appointed <strong>Minister of Industry<\/strong>, <strong>Christian Paradis<\/strong>. But the opposition, the <strong>NDP<\/strong>, state they will introduce amendments and negotiate with the government &#8220;<em>Clause by Clause<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>New Democrat Party<\/strong> have stated they support the extention of the blank audio media levy to mp3 players including iPods but oppose the digital lock provisions found in <strong>Bill C-32<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NDP MP Charlie Angus<\/strong> had introduced <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=237\" target=\"_blank\">Private Members Bill C-499<\/a> last March, which would have enacted a levy on mp3 players. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It appears that Bill C-32 will be re-introduced into Parliament virtually intact, according to Peterborough MP Dean Del Mastro.
