Canada Post<\/strong> has issued a statement<\/a> in regards to having recieved a 72 hour notice from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

A postal strike is scheduled for 11:59 EDT on June 2, 2011<\/strong>. But some retailers do offer alternatives.<\/p>\n

The following Canadian retailers offer an option to ship to their local stores :<\/p>\n

Bestbuy.ca <\/a>
\n Futureshop.ca <\/a>
\nwww.sears.ca<\/a>
\n thesource.ca <\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The following Canadian retailers offer courier shipping :<\/p>\n

chapters.indigo.ca <\/a> (Greater Toronto Area)
\nSony Style Canada<\/a> (Major Cities\/By Appointment)
\nTigerdirect.ca – FREE SHIPPING* on selected PC Deals at TigerDirect!<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There is a possibility that Amazon.ca<\/a>\"\" might use courier services like UPS<\/strong> or possibly DHL<\/strong> for some of their domestic shipments durring the strike but there is no news in regards to this possibility on their web site yet.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that Amazon.com<\/a>\"\" do offer courier service regularily to Canadians. <\/p>\n

They use DHS Global Mail<\/strong> for Standard and Expedited Shipping, and UPS<\/strong> or DHL<\/strong> for Priority Shipping. BUT shipments valued above $20 Canadian may incur importation fees, which in this case would be administed by the courier, in addition to the standard duties and taxes.<\/p>\n

International shipments<\/a> valued at less than $20 are not subject to duties, taxes or importation fees because of the Low Value Shipment<\/strong> (LVS) process at the Canadian Border Services Agency<\/a>, with some restrictions<\/a>. <\/p>\n
