{"id":1604,"date":"2011-11-10T07:00:11","date_gmt":"2011-11-10T12:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=1604"},"modified":"2011-11-10T07:00:11","modified_gmt":"2011-11-10T12:00:11","slug":"warner-out-for-emi-purchase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=1604","title":{"rendered":"Warner Out For EMI Purchase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.biz\/bbbiz\/industry\/record-labels\/emi-sale-intensifying-as-citigroup-renews-1005499162.story\">Billboard<\/a> has reported that <strong>Warner Music Group<\/strong> has pulled out of the negotiations for <strong>EMI<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citigroup<\/strong> have allegedly renewed negotiations with <strong>Universal<\/strong> and <strong>Sony<\/strong> whilst Independent label association <strong>IMPALA<\/strong> filled protests about the sale with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.impalamusic.org\/docum\/04-press\/2011\/PR%20-%2020111108.htm\">European Commission<\/a> over concerns in regards to a possible duopoly in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>According to their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.impalamusic.org\/docum\/04-press\/2011\/PR%20-%2020111108.htm\">November 8th, 2011 press release<\/a>, <strong>IMPALA<\/strong> had preferred a sale to <strong>Warner Music Group<\/strong>, which they believed &#8220;<em>could help balance the duopoly but would still need substantial remedies as it would increase the competitive  gap for the independents<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Billboard has reported that Warner Music Group has pulled out of the negotiations for EMI.
