{"id":1969,"date":"2012-03-11T04:30:09","date_gmt":"2012-03-11T08:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=1969"},"modified":"2012-03-11T04:30:09","modified_gmt":"2012-03-11T08:30:09","slug":"liberal-party-propose-amendment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=1969","title":{"rendered":"Liberal Party Propose Amendment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In response to the numerous groups calling for an amendment allowing the circumvention of copy protection for non-infringement purposes, the <strong>Liberal Party of Canada<\/strong> have proposed an amendment that would alter the following definition in our <strong>Copyright Act<\/strong> :<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n41. The following definitions apply in this section and in sections 41.1 to 41.21. \u201ccircumvent\u201d means,<\/p>\n<p>(a) in respect of a technological protection measure within the meaning of paragraph (a) of the definition \u201ctechnological protection measure\u201d, to descramble a scrambled work or decrypt an encrypted work or to otherwise avoid, bypass, remove, deactivate or impair the technological protection measure, for any infringing purpose, unless it is done with the authority of the copyright owner; and<\/p>\n<p>(b) in respect of a technological protection measure within the meaning of paragraph (b) of the definition \u201ctechnological protection measure\u201d, to avoid, bypass, remove, deactivate or impair the technological protection measure for any infringing purpose.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I believe the official opposition, the <strong>New Democrat Party<\/strong>, will support this amendment.
