{"id":596,"date":"2010-05-04T20:15:14","date_gmt":"2010-05-05T00:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=596"},"modified":"2010-05-04T20:15:14","modified_gmt":"2010-05-05T00:15:14","slug":"the-hst-a-canada-day-gift","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=596","title":{"rendered":"The HST &#8211; A Canada Day Gift !"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rev.gov.on.ca\/en\/taxchange\/pdf\/taxable.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Ontario residents<\/a> and non-residents traveling to Ontario <strong>will not<\/strong> be paying more taxes on the following :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CD, DVD, Blu-Ray Discs<\/li>\n<li>TVs, Mp3 Players, DVD\/Blu-Ray Players<\/li>\n<li>Movie Tickets (reduction of 2%) \/ Cable Television<\/li>\n<li>Computers, Hard Drives, Prepackaged Computer Software<\/li>\n<li>Books, Audio Books &#038; Retail Magazine Purchases<\/li>\n<li>Music Lessons\/Educational Services<\/li>\n<li>Municipal Public Transit\/GO Transit<\/li>\n<li>Bridge, road, and ferry tolls<\/li>\n<li>Products on which they paid both the GST and PST on prior to July 1st, 2010<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But they will be paying <strong>more taxes<\/strong> on the following :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Internet Access Services in Ontario<\/li>\n<li>Concert Tickets for events in Ontario<\/li>\n<li>Alcohol purchases in Ontario<\/li>\n<li>Gasoline\/Diesel\/Electricity\/Natural Gas purchased in Ontario<\/li>\n<li>Accommodation in Ontario (Hotels\/Motels\/Camping)<\/li>\n<li>Airline, Bus and Rail Tickets\/Taxi Fares in and from Ontario<\/li>\n<li>Magazine Subscriptions (Ontario Residents Only)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In contrast <a href=\"http:\/\/hst.blog.gov.bc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">British Columbia residents<\/a> will be paying less in taxes to fuel up their cars and less on accommodation.
