{"id":708,"date":"2010-06-17T05:26:40","date_gmt":"2010-06-17T09:26:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=708"},"modified":"2010-06-17T05:26:40","modified_gmt":"2010-06-17T09:26:40","slug":"the-nmpa-sues-limewire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=708","title":{"rendered":"The NMPA Sues Limewire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpa.org\" target=\"_blank\">National Music Publishers\u2019 Association<\/a> has filed suit against <strong>Limewire<\/strong> on behalf of eight of the association&#8217;s members.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>NMPA<\/strong> allege that <strong>Limewire<\/strong> had facilitated copyright infringement through its web application, as stated in their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpa.org\/media\/showrelease.asp?id=181\" target=\"_blank\">press release<\/a>, dated June 15th, 2010.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Recording Industry Association of America<\/strong> had successfully sued <strong>Limewire<\/strong> and is currently trying to freeze it&#8217;s assets, as of <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.justia.com\/cases\/federal\/district-courts\/new-york\/nysdce\/1:2006cv05936\/288038\/256\/\" target=\"_blank\">June 10th, 2010<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The music publishers represented in the lawsuit are EMI Music Publishing, Sony\/ATV Music Publishing, Universal Music Publishing Group, Warner\/Chappell Music, Inc., Bug Music, MPL Music Publishing, Peermusic, and The Richmond Organization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Music Publishers\u2019 Association has filed suit against Limewire on behalf of eight of the association&#8217;s members.
