{"id":998,"date":"2011-02-10T00:30:37","date_gmt":"2011-02-10T05:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=998"},"modified":"2011-02-10T00:30:37","modified_gmt":"2011-02-10T05:30:37","slug":"bell-internet-usage-error","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicbymailcanada.com\/blog\/?p=998","title":{"rendered":"Bell Internet Usage Error"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Bell<\/strong> has found a fault in their online internet usage meter that caused 0.1% of their customers to get overcharged.<\/p>\n<p>I had suspected there was a problem because my router&#8217;s usage data never matched the usage data provided by <strong>Bell<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/canada\/story\/2011\/02\/09\/technology-bell-internet-usage.html\" target=\"_blank\">CBC<\/a>, <strong>Bell<\/strong> stated that they will fix the problem &#8220;<em>certainly before the end of the week<\/em>&#8221; and credit the accounts of those who were affected.<\/p>\n<p>Such errrors of course place <strong>usage based billing<\/strong> in doubt as errors can occur resulting in unsubstantiated overcharges. <\/p>\n<p>The <strong>CRTC<\/strong> has decided to review their usage based billing decision and this incident will probably be mentioned as a reason why <strong>usage based billing<\/strong> is questionable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bell has found a fault in their online internet usage meter that caused 0.1% of their customers to get overcharged.
