This Weekend’s Events
There will be two record shows and five comics this weekend, most of which will be in Ontario.
The ACGN EXPO Fest, will be an Anime and comic convention that will be held from 1pm to 7pm this Saturday, December 7th 2024, at the Tsawwassen Mills, in Tsawwassen, British Columbia.
Admission is free. And this venue, a major shopping centre, is serviced by Route 609 on Translink via Bus Stops 59511 and 59532.

The Newmarket Comicon will also be held this Saturday at the Optimist Club of Newmarket from 10am to 3pm.
Admission will be $5 of free for kids 12 and under. And the nearest bus stops to the venue are 9851 and 6985 on York Region Transit.

Another comic event, CompassCon Etobicoke, will also be occurring that day from 10am to 3pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Etobicoke, Ontario.
Admission is $5 or free for kids 12 and under and advance tickets are available. The venue is located next to both the Long Branch Go Station and Long Branch loop, the later being serviced regularly by TTC Streetcars. And note that multiple bus routes on Miway also service that station.

The first record show of this weekend will be on the opposite side of Toronto on Sunday, the 8th of December 2024, which is of course the Toronto East (Scarborough) Vinyl Record & Collectibles Show at the Ellesmere Community Centre from 10am to 3pm.
Admission is $5 and the nearest bus stops to the venue are 7719 and 7720 on the TTC.

The Bowmanvillle CD and Record Show will again be held at the Bowmanville Memorial Park Clubhouse from 10am to 4pm this Sunday, as well.
This is a free event and the nearest bus stop is an 8 minute walk away at the corner of Liberty Street and. S and Prince St. That stop’s number is 1499 and it is serviced by Route 902 on Durham Region Transit.

The Port Perry Comicon will also be held this Sunday, but from 10am to 3pm at the Scugog Community Recreation Center.
Admission will be$5 or free for kids 12 and under. And the nearest bus stop to the venue is 2452, which is serviced by Route 905 on Durham Region Transit.

And finally, this year’s last monthly Capital Trade Show will be held at the Nepean Sportsplex this Sunday, the 8th of December 2024, from 10am to 3pm.
This is a free event and the nearest bus routes to the venue, 1683 and 1652 are serviced by multiple major bus routes on OC Transpo.

Record Store Day: Black Friday
The Black Friday edition of Record Store Day is this weekend, on the 29th of November 2024.
Participating Canadian retailers will be offering special releases on vinyl, cassette and CD, some of which will be limited editions and/or picture discs.

This Weekend’s Events
There will be five events this weekend, three of which are record conventions:
The first event will be the Waterloo Record Swap & Sale, which will be held this Saturday, the 23rd of November, 2024 at the Royal Canadian Legion from 10am to 4pm.
Admission will be $2 or a donation to the Waterloo Food Bank. And the venue is serviced by multiple stops on either end of Marsland Drive by Grand River Transit.

The second event will be the Aurora Comicon, which will also be held on Saturday, from 10am to 3pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Aurora.
Admission will be $5 or free for kids 12 and under. And the nearest bus stops, #1746 and #1758, are an 8 minute walk away at the corner of Industrial and Wellington and are serviced by York Region Transit.

The Burlington Records Show will be hosted by the Burlington Senior Center on Sunday, the 24th of November from 10:30am to 4pm and admission will be $3.
Multiple routes on Burlington Transit service Central Park, which also houses the city’s Central Library, Music Centre and Curling Club.

The Angus Comicon will also occur on Sunday, and will be hosted by the Angus Recreation Center from 10am to 3pm.
Admission will be $5 or free for kids 12 and under. But unfortunately the area is not serviced by public transit.

And finally, the Vancouver Vinyl Record Show will be held at Heritage Hall, also on Sunday, November 24th, 2024, from 11am to 4pm.
Admission will be $5 and the venue is serviced by Bus Route 003 on Translink from bus stop numbers 50242 and 59581.

Canada Post & This Weekend’s Events
As you may already know, Canada Post has responded to the Canadian Union of Post Workers 72 hour notice that was issued yesterday with a lockout notice and a postal strike is looming for Friday.
This will hinder small business shipments that primarily use Canada Post and not courier services, and will cause delays on international and eBay shipments that rely on Canada Post for last mile deliveries from customs.
Most urbanites will probably not see a reduction of shipments from the major chains like Amazon.ca or Best Buy Canada as their Boxing Week Sales begin on the November 21st, but pickups at Canada Post outlets will likely be unavailable.
Most businesses will likely offer pick-up options of a strike occurs and hopefully it will be over before Best Friday on the 29th. But you can also purchase goods and help small businesses this weekend by attending one of the three records shows and/or two comic conventions that are occurring this weekend:
The Record and Vinyl Show will be occurring in Vancouver on Sunday, the 17th of November at the Vancouver Flea Market from 10am to 3pm.
Admission will be $5 and the venue is an 11 minute walk from the Main Street-Science World station and Pacific Central Station. The nearest bus stops to the venue are 51354 and 51276 on Translink.

The Oshawa Record Show will also be held on Sunday but at the LVIV Hall from 10am to 4pm and admission will be $5 or free for students and kids under 14.
Work on the two bridges near the venue is almost completed but may still offer challenges for drivers and pedestrians. Contact Durham Region Transit for information of possible detours or the relocation of bus stops. And yes, they do have a travel planner.

The last of this weekends record shows, the Brantford Record Show, will also be held on Sunday, the 17th of November but from 11am to 4pm at the Royal Canadian Legion.
Admission will be a toonie to the Legion. And multiple stops and routes service the area so you might want to use the travel planner on Brantford Transit.

The Avalon Expo is this weekend’s first comicon events and it will be held on both Saturday and Sunday at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland.

And last but not least, the Belleville Comicon will be held at the Masonic Temple on Sunday, the 17th of November from 10am to 3pm.
Admission is $5 or free for kids 12 and under. And the nearest bus stops to the venue are a three minute walk away, at the corner of Albert and Newberry, which are serviced by Routes 5A and 5B on Belleville Transit.

The Windsor Record Show and More…
There will be one record show and four comicon/collectors conventions this weekend:
The Windsor Record Show will be held at the Dominion House Tavern on Sunday, the 10th of November 2024 from 10am to 3pm and yes, admission is free.
Ample free parking is provided and the nearest bus stops to the venue, 1074 and 1075, are a one minute walk away and serviced by Route 1C on Windsor Transit.

The Peterborough Comicon will be again hosted by The Venue, this time on Saturday, the 9th of 2024 from 10am to 3pm.
Admission to this event will be $5 or free for kids 12 and under. And the area is serviced by multiple Peterborough Transit routes via bus stops 1495 and 1537.

Another convention, the 2024 edition of Lindsay Comicon, will be held at the Victoria Park Armoury in nearby Lindsay, Ontario, on the following day (Nov 10th, 2024) from 10am to 3pm.
Admission will also be $5 and free for kids 12 and under. And the venue has its own bus stop and is located next to the Lindsay Transit hub at the corner of Victoria and Kent St. W.

Also occurring on Sunday is Compasscon: Leaside 2024 at the Leaside Memorial Arena in Toronto, from 10am to 4pm.
General admission is $5 or free for kids 12 and under, and discounted advance admission is available online. The venue is serviced by Route 56 and Route 56A on the TTC from the Leaside TTC Station via two stops, 5136 and 15671.

And finally, Capital Trade Show will again be holding their free monthly event at the Nepean Sportsplex this Sunday, from 10am to 3pm.
This venue is serviced by the Transitway, which means multiple OC Transpo routes will be available form one stop at the venue.
