Events

Events This Weekend.

613Flea is a free event in which 150 local vendors are housed at the Aberdeen Pavilion in Landowne Park, Ottawa. And some vendors sell vinyl records, CDs and television, film and music themed merchandise.

This event will occur from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, the 2nd of September. And although 613Flea occurs once a month, the venue changes so click here for more information on the latest location.

Landsdowne Park is regularly serviced by OC Transpo Routes 6 and 7 at Bus Stop 3080.

Enjoy.

Now That Was Annoying!

I was unable to write anything on this blog because I had injured my right shoulder last week. But now i’m back with a few events:

The Burlington Record & CD Sale will occur this Sunday, the 13th, from 10am to 3pm at the Halton Naval Veterans Hall at 2444 Industrial St. in Burlington, Ontario.

The nearest bus stops are stop #204 at the corner of Gueph and Mountainside and stop # 207 at the corner of Guelph and Davidson. Admission is free with a donation to the hall.

Fanaticcon 4 will be occurring this Sunday, on the 13th, at the Ottawa Conference and Event Center at 200 Coventry Road. And this event will feature stars from Television of Film, as well as memorabilia from those genres and comic books.

This event will occur from 11am to 5pm and general admission is $15 with kids under 12 getting in for free. But you should note that VIP early admission tickets are available for $20. Click here for details.

Fan Expo Canada is a four day event that will occur at the Metro Toronto Convention Center that will feature celebrity appearances and merchandise from music, film and television.

Both the north and south buildings will have various vendors, displays and autograph sessions/meet & greet opportunities from the 24th to 27th of this month. And the nearest subway station is of course Union Station.

Admission prices vary depending of what experience you would like and additional details can be found by clicking here. But you might want to hurry and buy them by midnight tonight, eastern time, because they are discounted until then.

Enjoy. And if you’re over 50, be careful lifting cases of 24 water bottles!

Port Perry Vinyl Record & Collectible Show

This year’s show will be held on Sunday, the 23rd of July 2023 at the The Latcham Centre at 121 Queen Street from 10am to 3pm, on the shores of Lake Scugog, next to the Marina.

Admission will be $4 and there will be parking along the nearby street.

Durham Region Transit provides access to the nearest bus stops at Simcoe and Queen (#3340 Northbound/#3339 Southbound), which are a 10 minute walk away from the venue, straight east down Queen.

This event is pretty much the only record fair, show or convention that I know of that will occur in July, although the Woodstock Toy & Collectibles Expo on Sunday, July 16th will feature music memorabilia and collectibles.

That event will occur at the Woodstock Fairgrounds at 875 Nellis St, in the Oxford Auditorium and Mutual/Market Buildings, from 9:30am to 2:30pm.

Early admission will be $10 from 9:30am to 10:30am, whilst regular admission will be $5 afterward and $3 from 1pm to 3:30pm. Admission will be free for kids under 12 when accompanied by an adult but note that cash is only accepted at this event.

Unfortunately, no conventional transit or para-transit is made available on Sundays in that city.

No Record Fairs This Weekend But…

It’s Canada Day on Saturday. And if you’re in the Ottawa area for the festivities, you can also visit the small town of Merrickville and browse the 15% to 50% off used vinyl at Vinyl Destination, which will be open for its 11th Anniversary from 10am to 5pm.

I also believe stores in the Rideau Center like FYE may be open for limited hours in Downtown Ottawa, which is accessible by public transit for free.

People who live outside of the national capital area should probably look at their favourite music store websites to see if they’re open on Saturday (or Sunday), with limited hours. And possibly consult their local public transit authority to see if they’re offering free rides on Canada Day.

You should also note that some retailers may be closed on Saturday but offerings deals via their website , some starting Friday and ending Sunday.

Have a safe weekend.

Pop Up Events & More

Record collectors should be aware that there will be two pop up events this weekend in Ontario.

The Burlington Pop Up Record Show will be hosted at the Halton Naval Veterans Hall from 10am to 3pm on Sunday, the 25th of June.

The nearest bus stops to the venue at 2444 Industrial Ave are bus stop #204 at Guelph at Mountainside and Bus Stop # 207 at Guelph at Davidson. And although admission is free with a donation to the venue, you should bring cash.

The other event will be held in Kanata, Ontario, where the member of the OG Vinyl Group on Facebook will buy, sell and swap vinyl at the Big Rig Brewery at 103 Schneider Road in the northern part of this western Ottawa suburb.

This free event will be occurring from 2pm to 5pm, also on Sunday the 25th of June, but there is a 200 person limit to the venue. And the nearest bus stops are #7409 and #7410, both on Schneider Road.

By the way, the 2023 Prime Day dates have been released and these will be July 11th and 12th, from 3am Eastern at Amazon.ca and Amazon.com. But you should note that deals already appear on the link provided.

Enjoy.

No Record Shows This Weekend But…

….you should visit your local CD and record stores for Father’s Day discounts.

For example, Sunrise Records stores are discounting CD purchases of over $50 by 10% and vinyl purchases of over $100 by 20%. until June 19th, 2023. And i’m sure other local stores have similar offers so you could pop by your favourite retailers to see what’s being offered. Keep an eye on their official social media accounts.

Those looking for Apple gift cards can also purchase $50 gift cards at participating Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix stores and receive a bonus of 5000 Optimum Points per gift card until June 21st, 2023. Or they can obtain $10 Rexall gift cards per $100 Apples gift card purchase at participating Rexall stores from June 16th to June 22nd, 2023, although stores do reserve the right to limit the amounts of gift cards purchased.
