Spotify Sued, Again
Music Business Worldwide reports that Spotify is facing a second class action lawsuit over royalties.
The first was filed by Camper Van Beethoven songwriter and frontman David Lowery on December 28th, 2015 for US$150 Million and the second was filed by songwriter and publishing company owner Melissa Ferrick on January 8th, 2016 for US$200 Million.
The music streaming service is also in negotiations with the National Music Publishers Association in the states over their alleged failure to secure mechanical rights.

Columbia House To Return ?
Apparently the investor that purchased the remnants of Columbia House for US$1.5 million has told The Wall Street Journal that he is planning on reviving the club to take advantage of the resurgence of vinyl.
Filmed Entertainment Inc. had filed for Chapter 11 protection on August 10th, 2015 and has had some of their assets purchased by John Lippman, the CEO of Filmed Entertainment Inc.
Details on the new version of the club are light but a site will be appearing at columbiahouserecordclub.com in 2016, although I seriously doubt Canadians will be able to take advantage of any initial offer.

Rdio will be discontinuing their services on December 22nd, 2015 in order to merge with Pandora. But unfortunately Canadians will not be able to use Pandora “due to licensing constraints”.
