Record Conventions

Events This Weekend.

There are three record conventions in Ontario this weekend, as well as a three day Comic Convention in Ottawa.

The North Bay Record Show will be held on Saturday, the 9th of September 2023 at the Elks Lodge at 325 Elks Lane from 10am to 3pm.

Admission will be $5 (or $10 for early entry at 9am). And the nearest bus stops serviced by North Bay Transit are 1147 (Trout Lake Rd at Bank St) and 1022 (Trout Lake Rd at Elks Ln).

The Ottawa Record Fair will also occur on Saturday, the 9th of September 2003 but from 11am to 3pm at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre at 355 Cooper Street in downtown Ottawa.

Admission will be $5 and the nearest bus stops are on Bank Street, one block west of the venue: 1902 (Bank/Somerset W) and 2487 (Bank/Lisgar). Consult OC Transpo for details.

The Sudbury Music & Collectibles Show will be held in the Aspen Hall of The Northbury Hotel & Convention Center at 50 Brady Street on Sunday, the 10th of September 2023 from 10am to 4pm.

Admission will be $5 (or $10 for early admission at 9am). The nearest bus stop is on Riverside and is serviced by Route 3 but you will need to contact Sudbury Transit for additional details.

Ottawa Comiccon will run 3 days from the 8th to the 10th of September 2023 at the EY Center at 4899 Upland Drive.

Ticket information can be found by clicking here. And the nearest bus stop, #4213, is serviced by route 97. A travel planer is available on the OC Transpo web site.

Port Perry Vinyl Record & Collectible Show

This year’s show will be held on Sunday, the 23rd of July 2023 at the The Latcham Centre at 121 Queen Street from 10am to 3pm, on the shores of Lake Scugog, next to the Marina.

Admission will be $4 and there will be parking along the nearby street.

Durham Region Transit provides access to the nearest bus stops at Simcoe and Queen (#3340 Northbound/#3339 Southbound), which are a 10 minute walk away from the venue, straight east down Queen.

This event is pretty much the only record fair, show or convention that I know of that will occur in July, although the Woodstock Toy & Collectibles Expo on Sunday, July 16th will feature music memorabilia and collectibles.

That event will occur at the Woodstock Fairgrounds at 875 Nellis St, in the Oxford Auditorium and Mutual/Market Buildings, from 9:30am to 2:30pm.

Early admission will be $10 from 9:30am to 10:30am, whilst regular admission will be $5 afterward and $3 from 1pm to 3:30pm. Admission will be free for kids under 12 when accompanied by an adult but note that cash is only accepted at this event.

Unfortunately, no conventional transit or para-transit is made available on Sundays in that city.

Pop Up Events & More

Record collectors should be aware that there will be two pop up events this weekend in Ontario.

The Burlington Pop Up Record Show will be hosted at the Halton Naval Veterans Hall from 10am to 3pm on Sunday, the 25th of June.

The nearest bus stops to the venue at 2444 Industrial Ave are bus stop #204 at Guelph at Mountainside and Bus Stop # 207 at Guelph at Davidson. And although admission is free with a donation to the venue, you should bring cash.

The other event will be held in Kanata, Ontario, where the member of the OG Vinyl Group on Facebook will buy, sell and swap vinyl at the Big Rig Brewery at 103 Schneider Road in the northern part of this western Ottawa suburb.

This free event will be occurring from 2pm to 5pm, also on Sunday the 25th of June, but there is a 200 person limit to the venue. And the nearest bus stops are #7409 and #7410, both on Schneider Road.

By the way, the 2023 Prime Day dates have been released and these will be July 11th and 12th, from 3am Eastern at Amazon.ca and Amazon.com. But you should note that deals already appear on the link provided.

Enjoy.

Bowmansville Record and CD Show

This event will occur on Sunday, the 11th of June 2023 at the Bowmanville Memorial Park Clubhouse, located at 120 Liberty Street South, from 10am to 4pm.

Admission is free and the nearest bus stop is bus stop #1499 at Prince Eastbound @ Liberty, next to Lakeridge Health Bowmanville. And remember, cash is preferable.

Stratford Record Show

The only record convention occurring in Canada this weekend is the Stratford Record Show, at the Royal Canadian Legion at 804 Ontario St, in Stratford, Ontario.

It will happen on Saturday, the 3rd of June 2023, from 10am to 2pm, and admission will be $2 (which will be donated to the Legion). And I believe on demand transit services are available on that day from the city of Stratford (click here for details).

If I find another convention, i’ll add it here.

Enjoy.
