Important Google Play Update
The Google Play Movie & TV app will be no longer be accessible on Roku, Samsung, LG, and Vizio smart TVs as of mid-June, 2021.
On June 15th, 2021 Google Play account holders will be able to continue accessing their past purchases and use their credits on the Youtube app on the aforementioned devices. But unfortunately content will not be viewable on LG NetCast and LG SimpleSmart devices as of that date.
The app will remain on Android devices, iPhones and iPads.
Google Play Gift Cards Now In Canada
Google Play gift cards are now available in Canada, in increments of $15, $25 and $50.
They are available at select Shopper’s Drug Mart/Pharmaprix, Future Shop, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Mac’s, Couche Tard and 7-11 stores.
Google Play Expands
Google Play members in Canada now have access to film downloads and will soon be able to download 320 kbps MP3s from the service, which now includes material from Warner Music Group’s extensive catalog.
The service will also include a cloud like system that will scan and match a person’s current music collection. This service will be accessible through android devices and will be free.
Google Merges Services
Google has merged its Android application, eBook, film rental and cloud services into one service, entitled Google Play.
Canadians with Gmail accounts are able to access Android applications and a limited selection of films and books at the moment. But the online entertainment hub is expected to expand shortly.
The music service on Google Play, which enables users to store up to 20,000 songs on a cloud service that can be accessed by any Android device, is only available to Americans.
