Diner Dash – Free

Thought i’d bump it.

No Flash for iPad, iPhone & iTouch – Ever ?

Steve Jobs has posted an open letter basically claiming that Apple has moved on from Adobe‘sFlash for their iPad, iPhone and iTouch.

It appears that the company is not interested in providing Flash compatibility on those devices because Steve Jobs considers this technology to be antiquated and less secure in comparison to H.264 and HTML5.

Furthermore he claims that if Flash were implemented that the software required to decode older Flash material would drain resources in these devices, resulting in a significantly reduced battery life.

Shantanu Narayen, Adobe’s chief executive, responded to these claims on a Wall Street Online video.

iPad Delayed For Canada

The iPad’s international release has been delayed to “late May”, which includes Canada.

I guess they’re going to fix the wireless and app issues. Let’s hope they’ll get flash in there as well.

Apple will be taking Canadian pre-orders from May 10th via their official site.

Free Kindle Software

Forgot to mention this last month : Amazon.com and Apple have released free software to read Kindle books on Windows PCs, the Blackberry, the Mac, the iPhone, the iPod Touch and the iPad.

The Blackberry reader is not yet available to non-Americans but will be made available shortly via this site.

iPad Wireless Issues

It appears that the iPad has wireless issues.

Several Americans have reported intermittent wireless connection failures, that people believe is caused by the device’s WI-FI antenna, which is located behind the apple logo.

This issue causes some users to need to enter their passwords, repetitively. And some have had difficulties connecting to certain routers, which has resulted in this support document by Apple.

This along with the lack of support for Flash has made me think twice about purchasing this device, which will be released in Canada later this month.

I don’t read e-books so I haven’t purchased a Kindle or the new Kobo ereader (which is available for pre-order at chapters.indigo.ca). But I have been eying the Archos 9 PC Tablet and JooJoo, which can view Flash.

The competition will be fierce because HP, Acerand Asus will also be releasing tablets soon.

iPad – My Opinion

Well, Apple has decided to release a new gadget that they call the iPad.

Crude jokes aside this device has garnered my attention, more than the Kindle DX, because of its colorful display and wi-fi capability.

It’s as sleek as an iTouch but larger. And hopefully Apple considered that some consumers would like to mount it to a wall and use it as a networking device, like yours truly.

I’d like to be able to access MP3 files from a hard drive on my network and possibly connect wireless speakers to it so I don’t have to have these unsightly wires all over the place.

But of course Microsoft will likely create a Windows Media Center compatible tablet so there should be some competition by next Christmas.

I would consider the later as well if it was more competitively priced and offered 3G access for less. But for now Canadian will need to be content with a wi-fi model, that will be on sale in Canada this month according to the Financial Post.
