Black Friday Week Sales Starting

There are a few Black Friday week sales starting early, either today or tomorrow :

Apparently Amazon France and Amazon Italy will also be offering Black Friday week sales starting on the 24th. Amazon Spain will also have a Black Friday sale on the 28th.

Gift Card & Vinyl Discounts

Select Rexall Pharmaplus stores are offering 10% discounts on iTunes Gift Card multipacks of $30 or individual gift cards valued at $50 or $100. This offer ends November 27th, 2014. Consult your local flyer for details.

Participating Target stores are also offering 10% off iTunes gift cards from November 28th, 2014 to November 30th, 2014. But they are also offering 25% Off vinyl records until November 30th, 2014.

Yes, I am also surprised to hear some Target stores have begun to sell vinyl records. And although I suspect their selection will be limited I guess I will need to take a look.

Black Friday Week Sales Soon

It appears that more Canadian retailers will be offering Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales this year. And it looks like British retailers like amazon.co.uk are warming up to the idea as well. I’m hoping to post updated information on which retailers are going to be offering these deals on the 24th so keep an eye out for it.

Participating Sobeys and Real Canadian Superstore locations are offering 10% discounts on iTunes gift cards.

From November 7th to November 13th, 2014 select Sobeys stores will be offering 10% discounts on $50 and $100 gift cards. And from November 3rd to November 20th, select Real Canadian Superstore locations will be offering 10% discounts on $100 gift cards.

No Platinum Albums in United States

There will be no Platinum certified albums in the United States this year, the first time since certification had been established in 1976.

Apparently even Disney’s “Frozen” soundtrack didn’t surpass the one million sales mark in the States, selling only just over 750,000 copies this year because of the popularity of music downloads.

Canada’s Gold and Platinum certification was altered to address this issue in 2008.

Prior to May 2008 Canadian album releases were given Platinum Status when they reached 100,000 sales. But this was reduced to 80,000.

Update : Taylor Swift managed to surpass a million sales with “1989” in the first week of November 2014.
