Busy Saturday In Ottawa & More

Not only is Record Store Day on this Saturday, the 12th of April, 2025, but The Ottawa Record Fair will be on from 11am to 4pm at the Carleton-Dominion Chalmers Centre.

Admission to the fair is $5 or $10 for early entry at 10am. And the nearest bus stops, #1902 and #2487, are regularly serviced by several major routes on OC Transpo.

Also occurring in Ontario that day are three comicons, the first being in nearby Kingston for one day, at the Royal Canadian Legion from 10am to 3pm.

Admission at the Kingston Comicon will be $5 or free for kids 12 and under. And this venue is serviced by Route 1 on Kingston Transit via its own bus stop and another bus stop across the street. Non-perishable food items will also be collected at this event.

The next event of that Day in Ontario will be the Halton Hills Fanfest in Georgetown, from 10am to 4pm at the Halton Hill Public Library.

I believe the event may be free but you might want to contact the library for details. And the nearest bus stops, 102803 and 102804, are serviced Routes 31 and 33 on Go Transit.

The last event in Ontario that day will also occur on both the 12th and 13th in Timmins at the McIntyre Community Centre.

Admission to Timminscon is $15 for adults, $10 for kids and free form kids under 2. And the venue is serviced by multiple routes on Timmins Transit, which differs depending on the day you will attend the event, although Route 16 appears to operate on both days.

The Atlantic Entertainment Expo will also be occurring this weekend, on the 12th and 13th of April 2025 in Fredericton, New Brunswick at the Fredericton Convention Center.

The Toronto/Mississuaga Vinyl Record & Collectibles Show will be held from 10am to 3pm at the Etobicoke Olympium on Sunday, the 13th of April, 2025.

Admission is $5 and the venue is serviced by Route 48 via bus stop numbers 1477 and 1493 on the TTC.

And finally, the Edmonton Record Fair will be hosted by the Northgate Lion Recreation Center from 11am to 3:30pm on Sunday, April 13th, 2025.

Admission will be $5 or $10 for early admission at 9:30am. And the nearest bus stops to the venue are 77342 and 77350, which is serviced by Route 54 on Edmonton Transit.

This Weekend’s Events

The Yorkgate Mall Comicon has already begun in North York and will end on the 14th of March 2025, from 11am to 5pm every day.

Admission is free and the venue is serviced by multiple TTC bus routes from Finch West Station.

The Toronto Comicon will occur from the 14th to the 16th of March, 2025 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Admission information can be found by clicking here. And the venue is accessible from Union Station, a major transport hub serviced by the TTC, Go Train, Union Pearson Express and VIA Rail Canada.

The Calgary Comic Book Show will happen on Saturday, the 15th of March, 2005 at the Millican Ogden Community Association from 10am to 4pm.

Admission will be free and the venue is serviced by multiple bus routes on Calgary Transit via Bus Stop Numbers 5857 and 8202.

The Owen Sound Comicon will be hosted by the Owen Sound Legion on Saturday, the 15th of March, 2005 from 10am to 3pm.

Admission will be $5 or free for kids 12 and under. The venue is serviced by the Brooke and Core bus routes on Owen Sound Public Transit, with stops next to the venue. This community’s bus terminal is also serviced by Flixbus and Grey County Transit.

The London Record Show will again be held at the Centennial Hall, in the lower level, from 11am to 5pm on Sunday, the 16th of March, 2025.

Admission will be $5 and multiple bus stops and routes service this venue via London Transit, which recommends their Real Time App or Google Maps for additional information.

Remember, cash may be preferred at these events so you may want to look for ATMs near these venues. And note that you may want to bring a mask and hand sanitizer because of the flu and other nasty viruses going around.

Two Events This Weekend

There will be two events, the first being a two day Fan event in Mississauga and the second being a pop up record and CD sale in Burlington:

CSC Fancon 2025 will be held on the 18th and 19th of January, 2025 in Halls 2 & 4 of the International Center in Mississauga, ON.

And this venue is located next to the Malton Go Station and Malton Via Rail Station, which is also serviced by Bus Route 505 on Brampton Transit (stop #4194) and Bus Route 30 on MiWay (stop #2902). The venue is also serviced by Routes 52B and 52D on the TTC from bus stop #4756, which is an 8 minute walk from the venue.

The Burlington Pop Up Record Show will be held on Sunday, the 19th of January, 2025 at the Halton Naval Veteran’s Association from 10am to 3pm and admission is a donation to this association.

The nearest bus stops, #204 and #207, are serviced by Routes 3 and 6 on Burlington Transit.

The Last Events of the Year

There will be two comic book conventions and one record convention this weekend.

The first event will be the Oshawa Comicon on Friday the 27th of December, 2024, from 10am to 3pm at the Harmony Creek Community Center.

Admission will be $5 of free for kids 12 or under. And the nearest bus stops are 1138 and 1148, which are serviced by Route 410 and N1 on Durham Region Transit.

The second event will be the Toronto Comic Book Show, also on the 27th but at Montecassino Hotel and Event Centre from noon to 5pm.

Admission is free and the venue itself is located within a 10 minute walk from the Downsview Park TTC Subway Station and Downsview Park Go Station. The nearest bus stops to the venue are 3138 and 7271, which are serviced by multiple routes by the TTC.

The final event of the year will be the Woodstock Record And Music Collectibles Show, on Sunday, the 29th of December, 2024, in the Mutual/Market Buildings on the Woodstock Fairgrounds from 9:30am to 2:30pm.

Admission will be $5 and kids under 12 can get in for free if they’re with an adult. And the venue is serviced by multiple routes on Woodstock Transit.

Please note that the Woodstock Card, Comics, Coins and Pop Culture Collectibles Show may also be occurring at the same time at this venue.

The Windsor Record Show and More…

There will be one record show and four comicon/collectors conventions this weekend:

The Windsor Record Show will be held at the Dominion House Tavern on Sunday, the 10th of November 2024 from 10am to 3pm and yes, admission is free.

Ample free parking is provided and the nearest bus stops to the venue, 1074 and 1075, are a one minute walk away and serviced by Route 1C on Windsor Transit.

The Peterborough Comicon will be again hosted by The Venue, this time on Saturday, the 9th of 2024 from 10am to 3pm.

Admission to this event will be $5 or free for kids 12 and under. And the area is serviced by multiple Peterborough Transit routes via bus stops 1495 and 1537.

Another convention, the 2024 edition of Lindsay Comicon, will be held at the Victoria Park Armoury in nearby Lindsay, Ontario, on the following day (Nov 10th, 2024) from 10am to 3pm.

Admission will also be $5 and free for kids 12 and under. And the venue has its own bus stop and is located next to the Lindsay Transit hub at the corner of Victoria and Kent St. W.

Also occurring on Sunday is Compasscon: Leaside 2024 at the Leaside Memorial Arena in Toronto, from 10am to 4pm.

General admission is $5 or free for kids 12 and under, and discounted advance admission is available online. The venue is serviced by Route 56 and Route 56A on the TTC from the Leaside TTC Station via two stops, 5136 and 15671.

And finally, Capital Trade Show will again be holding their free monthly event at the Nepean Sportsplex this Sunday, from 10am to 3pm.

This venue is serviced by the Transitway, which means multiple OC Transpo routes will be available form one stop at the venue.

Five Record Conventions & More

There will be three major record conventions, in Montreal, Calgary and Toronto this weekend, along with smaller events in Sarnia and Bowmanville, and a comic convention in Whitby.

The Montreal Plateau Record Show will again be held at the Église St Denis, which is located next to the north entrance of the Laurier Metro Station, from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, the 19th of October, 2024.

Admission is $5 or $10 for early entry at 9AM. And the Laurier Station is on Line 2 – Orange.

The Calgary Record Collectors Show will be hosted by at the Acadia Recreation Complex on Sunday, the 20th of October, from 11am to 4pm.

Admission is $5 or $10 for Early Admission at 9:30am. And the nearest bus stop to the venue is 6447, which is serviced by Route 99 from the Heritage LRT station on Calgary Transit.

The Toronto Downtown Record Show will be at the Tranzac Club from Noon to 4pm, also on Sunday, the 20th of October. And admission will be $7 or $20 for early admission at 10AM.

The venue is a 5 minute walk from the Spadina subway station but there are bus stops near the venue, numbers 498 and 499, which are serviced by Route 127 on the TTC.

The Sarnia Record Show will also be held on Sunday, October 20th, 2024 at The Royal Canadian Legion from 10am to 3pm and admission will be a $2 donation to the Legion.

The venue is a five minute walk from the Bayside Terminal, which is primarily serviced by Sarnia Transit and Intercity transit services of Strathroy-Caradox Transit and Flixbus.

The Bowmanvillle CD and Record Show will again be held at the Bowmanville Memorial Park Club House, also this Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.

This is a free event and the nearest bus stop is a 13 minute walk away on Prince Street at the Lakeridge Health Bowmanville facility – Bus Stop 1499 is serviced by Route 902 on Durham Region Transit.

And finally, the Whitby Comicon will be held on Sunday, the 20th of October 2024 from 10am to 3pm at the Haydenshore Pavilion. And admission to this event is $5 or free for kids 12 and under.

Unfortunately, there is no transit service in the venue’s general area, although The Whitby Go Station is a seven minute drive away if you want to use a taxi or ride service. And it’s a 10 minute bike ride away down Byron Street (via the Go station pedestrian bridge), Charles Street and the Waterfront Trail.

And remember, cash may be preferable at these events so always look for the nearest ATM to the venue. Enjoy.
